…McDonald’s near tent city… Talking with employee, coworker ask her for fries. She got upset.
Said, I'm going with you
I said, this is the reason I'm walking. This is work. Someone asks you to get the fries while they
are at the fry station.
She called her bf to pick her up. Said she was going to try to get transferred. She's friends with
this lady outside of work. Can't handle her while working.
I grab water bottles… Used vodka bottles, walk into Mcds, everyone looks at me. I say, it's
water. Guy says, oh, I was about to ask you to pull up a chair.
The Mcds was across the street from the tent city, under the bridge.
Pouring rain out. Lady at homeless shelter kicked us all out. Said policy is 40 degrees or below,
you can stay in shelter. It was 44 and raining. So lady put about 30 people out on the street in
the rain.
My buddies headed to Henry's place. I covered my cart. Someone took my rain jacket and rain
pants. I saw they rifled through my tool kit and saw they left my pocket knife. I thought that was
pretty cool.
I went to Mcds. Had coupons. Rain cleared up a few hours later. went to washateria. Dried
clothes. Walked to other side of beaumont. Looked for coffee in packets at target to no avail. decided to look for sock to put coffee grinds.
Got Mcds. Found spot at Living Waters Church.

Walked 20 miles, didn't hydrate beans, didn't eat, it rained, got a little wet. Next day had a cold.
Stayed in Shady hotel in Cleveland.

stayed Super8, still sick, guy was not friendly, wouldnt let me roll my cart inside, had to leave it
outside.
Ate cold soup,
Had hot shower…
Watched movie, nerve. good flick.
Next day, got a flat
Walked two miles to repair shop. Guy made fun for not being versed in flat tire repair… Was
talking to his friend on the phone, said, this guy from California walked in here and doesn't know
how to change a tire. He can drive the vehicle, he don't know how it works.

I told him after his phone call that I walked there. Walking was simpler than cycling.
Repaired tires. With help 🙂 Walked back to cart. Walked on, Camped in a construction
development. Called… Grand park or something south of Conroe.
Next day on the way to couch surfers host, went to w gas station, lady asked if I wanted a
sandwich. Said no. I was full later I got hungry and wished I had taken her up. Met a guy
outside, Doug, real nice and enthusiastic about the trip. Gave me twenty bucks.
Walked to Ari and Lucas place, in neighborhood. Friendly guys from Argentina. Computer
programming, chemical engineering. Typical American suburb, guys found a local Latin crowd
to gang with.
Went to a party. Folks at party said they saw a fb post about a homeless guy walking through
the neighborhood. Local Marshall, cop, was called. More than once.
Hung out another day. Then left around five am the next morning so no one in the hood would
see me. We made plans to meet up if I made it to Argentina.
Made real good time starting that early. Walked 25 miles that day.

Asked at fire department. Said to check out the park. Found a spot in the Cemetary near the
park. Didn’t see spots in park. Beautiful park along river.
I packed up and made my way to applebees. A lady gave me gift certificates there a few weeks
before. I got there a few minutes early and sat on a bench outside. A homeless lady sat down
next to me. She was like, yeah it's sucks, how long you been like this?
I was like, oh, I guess a few months.
She was legit on hard times. Young, 25. Liked pills. Sorta drifting. The doors opened. Manager
came out said, Okay, you guys gotta go. We're open now.
He left. I asked her to lunch. We ate. It was nice to be able to provide. Her name is Brooke.

Rolled into Cibolo, a suburb of San Antonio and stayed a night with David and Rose, two lovely
people I met through Misty Lassiter. Thanks for introducing Misty!
David and Rose have two daughters who moved to LA and New York. Very good conversation.
